RENAL MEDICINE

Sodaford - 500 / 650 / 1000

Sodium Bicarbonate Enteric Coated Tablets 500 mg/650 mg/1000 mg

Indication

Management of metabolic acidosis in chronic kidney disease (CKD).

Disease

Metabolic acidosis is a condition characterized by the accumulation of acid in the body due to impaired kidney function or kidney failure. This occurs when the body either produces too much acid, fails to eliminate enough acid, or cannot maintain proper acid-base balance. In patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD) who develop metabolic acidosis, alkali therapy is recommended to help restore balance. The goal is to maintain serum bicarbonate levels within the normal range, specifically above 22 mEq/L.

Mechanism of Action

Sobisis-Forte, which contains sodium bicarbonate (NaHCO₃), is a salt composed of sodium and bicarbonate ions. Upon dissociation, it releases bicarbonate ions that help neutralize excess hydrogen ions, thereby increasing the pH of the blood and urine.

Dosage

500 to 2000 mg, 1 to 4 times a day or as recommended by Registered medical practitioner.
